LOTO Training

The LOTO training course from 4safety is a specialist, bespoke programme combining theory with practical workshops. It will teach you how to identify isolation points, and how to effectively lock out and tag out energy sources using appropriate lockout devices, padlocks and Lockout Tagout labels.

During the programme, you will familiarise yourself with the applicable regulations and standards, learn about the types of hazardous energy, and then practise applying locks on real equipment so that the LOTO procedure is perfectly suited to your workplace.

Each training session is tailored to the target audience – regardless of the format; a large part of the programme corresponds to the actual procedures in place at the company in question.

What does the LOTO training from 4safety cover?

1. Safety Fundamentals

• Basic principles of the LOTO system

• Legal regulations and best practices

• The role of LOTO in safety culture

2. Step-by-Step Procedure

• Detailed discussion of the general Lockout-Tagout procedure, from the “American” version to adaptations for Polish conditions.

• Breaking down the theory of implementation into specifics and practical application at a given facility

• Guidelines for conduct

3. Hands-on workshops & equipment demonstrations

• Exercises in locking out energy sources on a training board or on the client’s machinery

• Demonstration of professional Brady locks and group boards

The result? Minimizing the risk of accidents, reducing costly downtime, and permanently improving safety culture, so that you and your staff will be able to independently implement and operate in accordance with LOTO system principles, while protecting both people and machinery.

We conduct training in the following formats:

  • following the completion of our LOTO implementations,
  • periodic or refresher training to maintain LOTO practices.
  • “Micro-implementation” in practice: independent training—for companies that want to implement the system on their own; in this case, the training is expanded to include a mini-audit, the drafting of instructions, and the creation of a list of isolation points.
  • We also participate in industry events, conferences, and Safety Days.

We always tailor the training format to the client’s needs, the specific characteristics of the audience, and the procedures in effect at the given facility.

❓ FAQ – Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) training: frequently asked questions!

1.  Is the LOTO system compulsory in Poland?

There is no legislation requiring the implementation of a LOTO system, but the obligation to secure energy sources against accidental activation stems from health and safety regulations – including:

  • Regulation of the Minister for the Economy of 30 October 2002 on minimum health and safety requirements for the use of machinery (Journal of Laws No. 191, item 1596),

  • the PN-EN 1037 standard concerning the immobilisation of machinery,

  • and the guidelines set out in OSHA 1910.147 (for foreign-owned companies and international audits).

2.  Who is the LOTO training intended for?

This training course is aimed at:

  • maintenance staff,

  • machine and equipment operators,

  • foremen, line leaders,

  • health and safety services,

  • and the management team responsible for safety.

We tailor the programme to the participants’ profile – we emphasise different aspects in the training for operators and different ones in the workshop for technical staff.

3. Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. Each participant receives a personalised certificate of completion.

4. How much does the LOTO training cost?

The price depends on:

  • the number of participants,
  • scope (theory only, or also a practical component and an audit).
  • the level of complexity and how well it is tailored to the plant and the group.

As a rule, the training starts at around 2,000–2,500 PLN net per group.
