Anti-slip protection – For which spaces and hazards?

Every production hall and warehouse has critical points.

A wet floor without marking, a worn stair edge, or an unprotected threshold pose an exceptionally high risk to the health or even life of your specialists. Tapes, overlays, plates, signs — which product for which zone?

In the 4safety offer, you will find four product categories in the field of anti-slip protection. Each of them solves a different problem and works well in different conditions.

Anti-slip tapes — a quick and flexible solution for local surface protection: thresholds, edges of loading platforms, stairs, ramps, and entrance zones. Available in widths from 25 to 150 mm, in R10 classes (for indoor use) and R13 (for indoor and outdoor use, including environments exposed to UV and abrasion). Variants in yellow-black and white-red combine an anti-slip and warning function. 

Anti-slip stair overlays — stairs near halls and warehouses are one of the most common accident points, especially when an employee walks down wet steps carrying a load in their hands. GRP overlays (glass fiber reinforced plastic) are installed on the surface of steps or edges. They are resistant to corrosion, UV radiation, moisture, and oils, and their temperature range from -20°C to +120°C covers both cold stores and hot production halls. Available in black, yellow, and yellow-black.

Anti-slip plates — where tape is not enough, that is on walkways, work platforms, loading and unloading zones, and at hall entrances, anti-slip plates are effective. They provide a durable, full-size surface with constant anti-slip parameters, resistant to intensive pedestrian traffic and forklift traffic. Used both indoors and outdoors.

Anti-slip signs — they inform about the hazard and at the same time themselves constitute an anti-slip surface. R13 class, durable UV print, and a strong acrylic adhesive layer ensure that they stay firmly in place even on uneven, rough substrates – indoors and outdoors. They work well where wet flooring appears periodically: after washing, near leaks, in loading zones. Compliant with ASR A1.5/1,2.

How to choose anti-slip protection? R classes and OHS requirements

Anti-slip protection is classified according to DIN 51130 on a scale from R9 to R13 — the higher the class, the better the grip on a wet or contaminated surface. In an industrial environment, this is a legal requirement. The employer is responsible for the condition of the flooring in the facility, and improper class selection may result in labor inspectorate sanctions and civil liability.

A short cheat sheet for the most common zones: 

• R10 – warehouses, garages, social rooms, zones with limited contact with moisture; 
• R11 – production halls, workshops, zones exposed to oils and moisture; 
• R12–R13 – external ramps, cold stores, food plants, zones in constant contact with chemicals.
