Fire-resistant containers are solutions designed specifically for the safe storage of flammable and hazardous substances. They protect hazardous substances against unauthorized access, weather conditions, temperature changes, and chemical reactions.

Containers should be made of the highest-quality fire-protected steel.

Fire-resistant storage units are ideal for storing hazardous, flammable, or chemical substances; they can be used outdoors and indoors. The container structure is protected against corrosion through painting. The container can be equipped with additional devices depending on the stored substances and individual needs.

Chemical containers

Chemical containers should have appropriate fire resistance, which is measured during tests in accordance with industry standards. Fire resistance determines how long the container can maintain stable conditions inside in the event of exposure to fire. In the case of flammable substances, the container’s ability to maintain a low temperature inside is particularly important in order to avoid explosions or the sudden release of gases.

Insulation of a storage container for flammable substances

Container insulation is a key aspect of fire prevention and risk minimization in the event of a leak or exposure to fire.

Insulation options may include:

Specialized insulation materials: fire-resistant storage units often have layers of special insulation materials that delay the penetration of heat and fire into the interior of the container.

Fire suppression systems: some containers may be equipped with fire suppression systems, such as fire extinguishers or flame suppression systems, which automatically respond to fire.

Temperature control: additional equipment with temperature control systems that maintain the appropriate temperature inside, even in the event of a fire outside.

Why choose fire-resistant containers?

Fire resistance: these containers are designed to maintain stable conditions inside in the event of exposure to fire for a specified period of time.

Thermal insulation: they have insulation layers that limit the penetration of heat into the interior of the container.

Increased evacuation time in the event of a fire - if a hazard does occur, an appropriate fire-resistant container will protect the stored substances inside for a specified period of time (depending on the selected fire resistance: 30 min, 60 min, or 90 min) from fire.

Durability and resistance to weather conditions: the containers are durable and resistant to weather conditions, which ensures long-term use.

Restricted access for unauthorized persons - a properly secured container prevents interference by third parties.

REI60 container - what does it mean?

The fire resistance of building elements is defined using the REI criteria, where

  • R - means load-bearing capacity in fire,
  • E - fire integrity,
  • I - fire insulation.

Depending on maintaining the REI fire resistance criteria over time expressed in minutes, the following fire resistance classes of building elements are distinguished:

e.g. REI60 means a specified period during which a structure or material can withstand exposure to fire. In this case, "60" means 60 minutes, which means that the structure or material is able to maintain its integrity for a period of 60 minutes under fire conditions.

REI30 - In this case, "30" means 30 minutes, which means that the structure or material is able to maintain its integrity for a period of 30 minutes under fire conditions.

Fire-resistant containers are a key safety element when storing and transporting flammable and hazardous substances.

Hazardous substances should be stored in adapted warehouses and appropriate packaging. The fire-resistant warehouses we offer are designed according to individual needs. Contact us for more information and check out our range of fire-resistant containers.
