Safe crane operating zone
Crane safe work zone
What hazards does a crane involve?
Most hazards are related to lowering and lifting the load and the uncontrolled falling of materials from the crane.
Loads transported by a crane are in most cases heavy, therefore there is a risk of injury to employees, damage to machines, the load, or structural elements.
The movement of employees near the crane work area increases the risk of accidents, downtime, losses, and additional inspections.

Therefore, it is very important to eliminate these hazards through proper crane protection and marking.
Learn a few ways to properly secure cranes:
- Use appropriate signage - all cranes should be marked in accordance with regulatory requirements. The marking should be legible, durable, and easy to read. It should contain information such as load capacity, identification number, and the date of the last and next inspection.
- Carry out regular inspections - cranes should be checked regularly to make sure they are in good technical condition. Inspections should include all elements of the device.
- Secure the crane work zone - light signaling informs about crane movement and warns of the transported load.
- Use limiters - limiters make it possible to control crane movement. They should be used when the crane approaches the end of its route.
- Use emergency stop switches - devices enabling the immediate stopping of the machine in the event of a failure or danger.
Benefits of marking the crane work area with LED projectors:
- employees will clearly see where the crane work zone is,
- operators will gain better control over the load,
- improved efficiency, thanks to visual guidance for operators about the exact load position,
- warning in high-noise conditions,
- increased employee attentiveness,
- no downtime during installation - quick projector installation,
- greater safety in places where deaf people work, who will not hear vehicle sounds or warning signals,
- clear lines even in harsh industrial conditions,
- marking visible even in extreme temperatures,
- clear even if the surface is dirty, dusty, or wet.

How to mark a crane work area in harsh industrial conditions?
LED SAFETY PROJECTORS FOR CRANES
Industrial LED projector is mounted on the device, thanks to which it emits a beam of light onto the ground that marks the machine's work zone with clear lines or points.
Operators do not have to remember to turn on the projectors, the device starts automatically when crane operation begins. Industrial projectors are made of durable material resistant to dust and moisture.
High-performance LEDs will provide clearly visible light and a long service life of up to 50 thousand hours. Marking with a colored beam of light is much more effective than sound signals in a noisy industrial environment.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a projector for overhead cranes?
- Range - the size and shape of the sign - square, circle, rectangle, light spots.
- Power - it should be selected according to the projector mounting height and the conditions in the plant.
- Light color - depending on preference - (most commonly used: yellow, white).
- IP protection rating - depending on the conditions in the plant (dust, moisture), choose the appropriate projector. Devices with various IP protection ratings are available on the market.
According to the Regulation of the Council of Ministers concerning the types of technical equipment, overhead cranes are subject to technical inspection (UDT). Every overhead crane, in order to be used, must have a decision issued by the appropriate technical inspection authority. It is worth bearing in mind that you must notify UDT of your intention and obtain approval to install the projector.
