LOTO board that teaches and organizes - a way to safety you can see!
Do you want your LOTO system to work not just ‘on paper’, but in real production conditions? Find out how shadow boards and training boards can improve safety at your site.
Because a good LOTO board makes all the difference. It speeds up work, keeps equipment organised and ensures procedures are carried out correctly – without stress, mistakes or having to search the plant for locks.
Find out how a LOTO board can improve safety at your plant!
LOTO signs – a key component of an effective Lockout/Tagout system in a manufacturing plant
In the world of industry, we’ve been repeating one rule for years: if you want an employee to do something correctly and safely, show them how, rather than making them read about it.
After all, the LOTO system is all about visualising and controlling energy, and LOTO boards are one of the most important elements of this visualisation – a sort of ‘pictorial instruction manual’ that doesn’t require leafing through procedures, rummaging through paperwork or wondering ‘which lock goes where’.
That’s why we create and offer LOTO shadow boards and training boards – two types, two uses, one goal: safety!
But why on earth would I need a board like that?
To keep things tidy and ensure equipment is readily available.
Carry out LOTO procedures more quickly and safely.
Maintain clear communication between shifts and departments.
The Shadow Board – visualisation, accessibility and organisation
The shadow board serves as the LOTO system’s command centre within a given area. It is positioned on the production line, in a sector or in a zone where locks are needed immediately. It is a well-organised board with spaces for all locks and padlocks. Thanks to the ‘shadows’, you can immediately see what is missing, what is in use and where to put the equipment away once the work is finished.
- Visibility – every employee can see which locks are available and where they are.
- Clear information – if something is missing from the board, you know straight away that someone is working on the installation.
- Time-saving – no need to search through cupboards, storerooms or workshops.
- Standardisation – every area has the same layout, the same description and the same rules.
- Visualisation plus on-site instructions – staff can see straight away where a particular lock belongs and what it looks like.
- Customisation – the boards can be standard or designed in your own style with a logo, etc.
What’s on the shadow board?
The shadow board shows the locks and padlocks we selected during the audit, positioned precisely over the valves, switches and energy points that actually exist in the area.
- LOTO padlocks (for maintenance, production and external contractors),
- specialised locks for switches and valves
- warning tags / labels,
- LOTO instructions or a summary of the procedure,
- visual markings (shadows) tailored to specific components,
- optionally, trays for LOTO documentation or pockets for small accessories.
In other words: real machines → real energy points → the necessary interlocks.
THERE ARE NO random combinations HERE. There are no ‘Chinese knock-offs’. This is equipment tailored to your machine park!
LOTO training board – practice, training and confidence in your actions
The second type of noticeboard is a training and information noticeboard. It is ideal for new staff and/or for companies wishing to refresh their procedures.
What is a training board for?
- so that new staff can practise applying interlocks in a ‘dry run’,
- so that they can see how the valve, switch and the interlock itself behave,
- so that they can practise the procedure without stress before moving on to a ‘live’ situation,
- so that they can act more confidently and quickly in emergency situations,
- and so that they can refresh their knowledge without the need for formal training.
See an example of a combined board: a shadow board and a training board in one.
More and more companies in Poland are using LOTO boards, and not just during the implementation phase.
Until recently, LOTO boards were rarely produced; now, every other workplace orders them even after implementation as part of Continuous Improvement.
Why?
New staff join the workforce, procedures need refreshing, LOTO equipment gets lost or mixed up on workshop shelves,
visual safety is becoming the norm.
The shadow board facilitates maintenance work, whilst the training board speeds up staff training.
Together, the two boards form a complete complement to the LOTO system — one that works not only on paper, but above all in real-world plant conditions. Because simply implementing the system is not enough. If LOTO is to function ‘in the real world’ – that is, during day-to-day production and maintenance work – tools are needed to support staff on the ground: precisely such boards and regular, cyclical training sessions.
We’ll help you put together the equipment for the perfect LOTO board
We’ll select the equipment – padlocks, valve locks and switch locks – to suit your machinery fleet exactly.
We’ll optimise the layout: we’ll advise you on how to arrange the components on the board so that the process is quick and intuitive.
We’ll ensure continuity: you can purchase additional components from us at any time that fit your system perfectly.
Do you already have a panel but are missing padlocks or locks?
Don’t look for replacements. With us, you can quickly top up your missing equipment, safe in the knowledge that it will be 100% compatible with your current solution.
