Laboratory eyewash stations – Application, requirements and availability
Combined unit, shower and eyewash on a platform
- Automatic activation: Eyewash (14 l/min) activated by pressing the feet onto the grated platform; shower (120 l/min) turned on with a hand lever.
- Protective construction: Railings stabilizing the user and components (head, bowl) made of chemical-resistant PP plastic (RAL 6029).
- Durable materials: Powder-coated galvanized steel frame with brass connecting elements.
- Operating parameters: Supply 1 1/4" female thread; operating pressure 0,2–0,5 MPa at water temperature 15–35°C.
- Certification and Standards: Compliance with EN 15154-1/2 and ANSI Z358.1-2004; CE mark and safety sign included.
The combined platform-mounted unit is an advanced safety system that integrates the functions of an emergency shower and an eye and face wash.
It is essential equipment in workplaces where there is a risk of contact with hazardous chemical substances.
The device enables quick and effective rinsing of harmful liquids from the entire body, including the face and eyes, which minimizes the risk of serious injuries.
Construction and materials:
- The platform is equipped with railings that allow the person using the device to hold on securely.
- The grating surface of the platform ensures proper water drainage and activates the eye wash upon stepping onto it.
- The shower head is made of flexible PP (polypropylene), which is characterized by high chemical resistance.
- Painted green (RAL 6029), which makes it easier to locate quickly in an emergency.
- The eye wash bowl is also made of flexible PP, painted the same color as the shower head. It provides effective rinsing of the eyes and face.
- The supporting structure is made of galvanized steel, powder-coated, which ensures high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.
- The steel structure is solid and durable, which guarantees the device’s longevity in harsh industrial conditions.
- The connecting elements, made of brass, are characterized by high corrosion resistance and a long service life.
Activation mechanisms:
- The eye wash is activated by stepping onto the grating platform.
- The platform is connected to a manual valve located by the eye wash bowl.
This mechanism ensures the immediate activation of the eye wash when a person needs to use it. - The shower is activated by a hand lever with a triangular handle.
The lever is designed to allow quick and easy use, which is crucial in emergency situations.
The set includes an occupational health and safety sign indicating the location of and method for using the device, which is important for ensuring workplace safety.
